DIVING
DEACONESS AQUATIC CENTER offers a variety of programs to fit any diver’s aspirations. Our goal is to put each diver into a group where they can optimize their learning and advancement in diving.
Learn to Dive Program: This year-round program is well-suited for children aged 5 to 10 years who are new to diving and can swim comfortably for 25 yards in deep water. This program is designed to teach young divers how to jump and dive off the diving boards through a step-by-step learning process. Athletes will move through skills at their own pace while encouraged to try new steps in a fun and safe environment. This program includes 30-minute sessions. Athletes will spend 15 minutes on the deck learning the proper technique and 15 minutes in water on skills. This program will have a 1 to 5 instructor-to-athlete ratio for faster learning potential.
Beginning Dive Program: This year-round program is designed for divers new to diving who can swim comfortably for 25 yards in deep water and are at least 10 years old. This program is designed to teach divers how to jump and dive off the diving boards through a step-by-step learning process. Athletes will move through skills at their own pace while encouraged to try new steps in a fun and safe environment. By the end of this program, the goal is for the diver to properly execute a minimum of a front dive, front somersault, back dive, and back somersault before moving to the next program. This program is a 30-minute session. This program will have a 1 to 5 instructor-to-athlete ratio for faster learning potential.
Intermediate Dive Program: This year-round program is designed for divers new to diving who can swim comfortably for 25 yards in deep water and are at least 10 years old, and have passed the beginning dive program requirements. This program reinforces front and back dive skills and teaches divers inwards and reverses. Athletes will move through skills at their own pace while encouraged to try new steps in a fun and safe environment. By the end of this program, the goal is for the diver to properly execute a minimum of an inward dive, inward somersault, reverse dive, and reverse somersault before moving to the next program. This program is a 45-minute session. This program will have a 1 to 12 instructor-to-athlete ratio.
Beginner Middle High School Program: This program is designed for divers who want to dive for their middle or high school team during the season. Divers will learn dives to compete in regular and championship meet formats. The program runs summer and fall for high school students and summer, fall, and winter for middle school students. This program will have a 1 to 12 instructor-to-athlete ratio.
High School Diving Experience Program: This summer and fall program is reserved for divers who have been at the high school level for one season. This program allows high school divers to polish their dive skills and learn new dives for the upcoming season. This program is a 60-minute session. This program will have a 1 to 12 instructor-to-athlete ratio.
Private Diving Lessons: Private diving lessons will be based on the instructor’s availability.
